Jin quotes Malala Yousafzai, saying, "One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world." She understands that the upcoming election will shape history, and believes that history calls for the voices of all Americans, including today’s youth. She wants to be a conduit for that youthful voice, and help ensure a future in which her generation can prosper. Education is a key issue for this New York 12th grader.

Samantha Cookinham

Alumna, Envision’s National Young Leaders Conference

Samantha dreams of becoming a broadcast journalist. She met with congressmen and presidential candidates at NYLC in Washington D.C., fueling her passion for educating America’s youth on the political culture, and facilitating their ability to drive change. This high school senior is already involved with the election process through her school’s newspaper and she brings charisma, positive energy and informative reporting capabilities to Chase the Race 2016.

Emily Cox

Alumna, Envision’s JrNYLC and JrNYLC Alumni

This California 11th grader hopes to use her voice to positively impact the issues of employment, racism, national security and women’s rights. Emily is an honors English student who works on her school newspaper and yearbook. Volunteering with a support organization for Oakland’s inner city youth, she learned how young African American girls believe they have no power to change their future. One of her missions is to address our nation’s race relations and help impact change on behalf of females and minorities across the globe.

Noah Fineberg

Alumnus, Envision’s JrNYLC and JrNYLC Alumni

Ever since Noah was “Mayor of the Day” for his hometown of Coral Springs, FL, he knew he had a knack for politics. This high school freshman and two-time Envision alumnus feels his Chase the Race 2016 experience, during which he’ll see our democracy in action, will be a life-changing experience.

Jessica Greely

Alumna, Envision’s Intensive Law & Trial

Jessica brings ambition, optimism, and resourcefulness to the Chase the Race 2016 team. This California rising 12th grader intends to major in political science, in hopes of becoming a professor, and sharing her love of American politics with students and peers. She is a patriot who believes that the problems in the Middle East are inflicting a heavy toll on America, both in expenditures and casualties. She advocates a more strategic plan for American engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq, redirecting funds toward education, with the goal of enabling more young people to attend college.

Annabelle Harris

Alumna, Envision’s NYLF Law & CSI

Annabelle wants to help the youth of America make informed decisions when they get their chance to vote, expressing their own opinions instead of simply echoing those of their parents. She believes that change can only occur when people get off the sidelines. Annabelle is a 9th grader from Tulsa, OK.

Ruben Velez Moreno

Alumnus, Envision’s NYLF Medicine and NYLF Law & CSI

Ruben is the only Chase the Race 2016 reporter from Puerto Rico and is eager to represent his fellow Puerto Ricans, helping to bring their voices to the forefront. This New Jersey 10th grader wishes to serve as a link between the people and the government of the United States. Milan believes the key issues for his generation include the future of education, college tuition and career opportunities, as well as the security vs. privacy controversy.

Wilson Reynolds

Alumnus, Envision’s NYLF National Security

Wilson loves the presidential election.  This 11th grader from Illinois enjoys following the campaign because there are so many aspects to it: debates, conventions, fundraising, grassroots campaigning, and eventually elections.  Wilson believes "the youth of America, whether we know it or not, are the future leaders of the United States of America.  As such, we should take it upon ourselves to learn about the issues that are debated today."  Foreign policy is one of the most important issues for Wilson, followed by the economic stability of our country.

Skylar Umholtz

Alumna, Envision’s NYLF National Security

This Pennsylvania high school senior believes the youth of America need to become more involved and enthusiastic about our government. Representing the future of this country, young people must be educated on the political process in order to add an intelligent voice to our democracy. Through Chase the Race 2016, Skylar hopes to inspire her peers to vote, because voting is the cornerstone of democracy.

Serena Zets

Alumna, Envision’s National Young Leaders State Conference

This Pennsylvania 10th grader takes great pride in her writing abilities and is known to “launch into political debates, usually with little to no audience.” Serena is a prospective journalist and political fanatic who is very comfortable around adults and knows how to communicate with influential figures. In Chase the Race 2016 coverage, she plans to use creative interviewing tactics to skillfully explore the heart of the issues. She cares most deeply about gender and racial equality, and plans to play a role in moving society forward.
