About National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care
Focused Experiences for Tomorrow’s Professionals
At this challenging and rewarding program for high school students who are seriously considering a career in medicine, you will get an inside look at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland (UMD) Medical Center and experience UMD School of Medicine's Gross Anatomy Lab rotations, which are guided by current medical students. You'll also work with your peers to develop a public awareness and social media campaign around a current topic in public health, giving you firsthand experience in containing a public health threat, as well as participate in a first-responder simulation, upon completion of which you will receive a Stop the Bleed certification.
NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care will expose you to a broad range of educational pathways and accompanying careers in health care, providing you with a critical advantage as you make important decisions about your future in college, medical school, and beyond!
This is also a great chance for you to network with other talented students who share your interests and can contribute to like-minded conversations about your futures in medicine, and who will be your future colleagues. You'll acquire valuable information about which skills and educational components you need to be successful as a health care provider from professional medical personnel.
