About National Youth Leadership Forum: Advanced Medicine & Health Care
Focused Experiences for Tomorrow’s Professionals
At this challenging and rewarding program for high school students who are seriously considering a career in medicine, you will take a guided visit to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland (UMD) Medical Center and experience UMD School of Medicine's Gross Anatomy Lab through hands-on guided examinations, led by current medical students. You will also work with your peers to develop a public awareness and social media campaign around a current topic in public health that will provide you with firsthand experience in containing a public health threat.
NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care will expose you to a broad range of educational pathways and accompanying careers in health care—providing you with a critical advantage as you make important decisions about your future in college, medical school, and beyond!
This is also a great chance for you to network with other talented students who share your interests and can contribute to like-minded conversations about your futures in medicine, and who will be your future colleagues. You will also acquire valuable information about which skills and educational components you need to be successful as a health care provider from professional medical personnel.
By completing NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care, you are eligible for college credit from George Mason University.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed this program on the 2018-19 NASSP List of Approved Contests, Programs, and Activities for Students.
