Dr. Walt Cunningham is a former NASA astronaut and a veteran of Apollo 7, the first flight of the Apollo Moon program. This mission still holds the record as the longest, most ambitious and most successful first flight of a new spacecraft. Before joining NASA in 1963, he was a Marine Corps fighter pilot, with 54 night combat missions over Korea.
After leaving NASA, Dr. Cunningham served in senior positions in government and business, including in his own venture capital fund. In 1977, he published The All-American Boys, considered among the best ever written on space. Cunningham has received numerous awards, including induction into the Iowa Aviation Hall of Fame, Intl. Space Hall of Fame, Astronaut Hall of Fame and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
