Preparing for The Program

Prepare for an amazing experience! Your child is about to embark on an experience of a lifetime. Travel and embracing new challenges are as much a part of your son or daughter’s self-discovery journey as the simulations, workshops and events he or she will take part in while building critical success skills. Here, you will find important information on how to make this journey a safe and successful one.

Mandatory Travel Form

All Envision students are required to complete the Mandatory Travel Form upon enrollment. This form is critical to coordinating your child’s travel plans with staff to ensure your son or daughter is greeted, welcomed and escorted to the program site. The Mandatory Travel Form will be available after you enroll on your MyEnvisionExperience.com personal Web page.

Tuition and Travel Protection

To protect and safeguard your investment in travel and tuition costs, we strongly recommend that you take advantage of our Tuition and Travel Protection Plan. This plan is offered through Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. You may purchase this cancellation insurance when you enroll your child. You also may select this option when you complete the Mandatory Travel Form. If you would like more specifics about the Tuition and Travel Protection Plan, please call the plan administrator, Nationwide, at (866) 282-3987.

What your child packs is determined by the length of the program, the program location and the types of program activities. Each Envision program has its own dress code, so be sure to visit the program’s Frequently Asked Questions section to get a better idea of proper attire. Dress code guidelines will also be made available on the MyEnvisionExperience.com personal Web page for enrolled students.

Academic Preparation

Pre-program assignments vary by program, but all are an important part of your child’s preparation for the program. Completing the pre-program assignment facilitates discussion and fosters a healthy exchange of ideas. Pre-program assignment information will be available on the MyEnvisionExperience.com personal Web page.

Some programs also require your child to fill out a pre-program Feedback for Understanding Leaders (FUEL) assessment prior to participating in the program. To complete FUEL, your child must ask trusted teachers and mentors to fill out a leadership assessment. This assessment helps your son or daughter to understand his or her strengths and opportunities for growth. It is a valuable part of the program experience.

Accommodations

Each program has its own designated housing and accommodations – at a hotel, conference center or university – where your child will reside with other students and staff. Your child will have his or her own bed but will share a room with other program students. Your child will be randomly assigned a room prior to arrival day. Parents, guardians and teachers are not allowed to accompany students during the program. Please see program-specific Web pages for more details.

Passports and Program Schedule

If your son or daughter is traveling outside of your home country, he or she will need a passport. It is also a good idea to make a copy of the passport to keep at home. Your child should also have a copy of the program’s itinerary and you should also keep a copy at home.

Medical and Dietary Needs

If your son or daughter has special medical or dietary needs, the Office of Admissions needs to know prior to the start of the conference. When you complete the Student Information Form after enrollment, you will have the opportunity to make dietary and medical requests.

Special Needs

Students with special needs and disabilities are encouraged to enroll. We may be able to provide auxiliary aids and services. Please call our Office of Admissions for more information or to discuss your child's particular needs prior to enrolling in the program.

Designated Airports

You are responsible for arranging your child's transportation to and from program locations. If your child must fly, you will be notified of designated airports and other logistics, including the availability of shuttle service between airports and program sites. Please see program-specific Web pages for more details.

Unaccompanied Minors

When airlines offer additional assistance to a minor traveling without a parent, guardian or other trusted adult, the airline refers to this as "unaccompanied minor status." Each airline has different age requirements to define this status. Some airlines may allow you to purchase this service even if your child is not in the "required" age bracket. Nearly all airlines charge a fee for unaccompanied minor services. We strongly recommend that you contact the airline directly for specific information on unaccompanied minor age requirements and fees.
