Inside the University Admissions Process


Students Studying Outside a CollegeStudents can expand upon their Envision experience in this unique admissions workshop, Inside the University Admissions Process. During the workshop, students will gain insight into the U.S. university admissions process from Thomas Caleel, the former Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid for the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Students will hear from Admissions Officers from top-ranked schools, participate in a mock application process, and be guided on standardized testing preparation.

Inside the University Admissions Process workshop is only open to students in select sessions of the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Business Innovation, the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Digital Media, Film & Journalism, and the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC). This workshop takes place July 15–18, 2017 in New York City, and will occur either before or after the programs, depending on which program and session you attend.


Students who attend the workshop will be exposed to:

College Admissions Workshops
Get a head start on the college application process with discussions and exercises to help you grasp the nuances of college applications.

Speakers
Hear from Admissions officers from top schools and participate in a mock application process and learn trends & statistics on college admissions.

Personal Strategy & Story
Receive invaluable guidance on creating your own college list as you spend time crafting and receiving personalized feedback on your college admissions essay.


Students who attend to the following sessions can choose to attend the workshop after the session has completed:

  • NYLF Business Innovation*: July 6-13
  • NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism: July 9-15
  • Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC)*: July 3-12

Students who attend the July 18-24, 2017 session of NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism can choose to attend the workshop before the start of the session.

Please note: The workshop is separate from the Cultural Extension.
