This spring, Max Reynolds and his family had a game-changing experience on CNBC’s Deal or No Deal. Not only did the Southwest Airlines’ beatboxing flight attendant (check him out on YouTube) win on the show, his three children each received an Envision experience tailored to their career passions. Josiah traveled to China with the International Scholar Laureate Program to study engineering and Chinese culture. Jordan flew across country from California to Georgia where he stayed on the Georgia Tech campus attending NYLF Engineering and dove into the world of engineering with like-minded peers. Eliana spent 13 days on George Mason’s campus at the Envision Game & Technology Academy learning about game design and animation, extending her talent as an artist into the digital world.
Between the three programs, the siblings got to visit the Great Wall of China, King’s Dominion amusement park, the Atlanta Aquarium, the Forbidden City, and many other places.
Josiah, currently in college studying to become a mechatronics engineer, got to experience engineering in a different culture while traveling from Beijing to Yichang to Shanghai.
Jordan, a rising senior, worked with a team of future engineers to create a water system for a developing country while at Georgia Tech. “I didn’t know how much of a group activity engineering is. Most of the time engineers are working together in groups rather than working solo. I really like that,” Jordan explained while talking about how the program had changed his perspective on his future career.
Eliana, a rising junior and accomplished artist, really enjoyed getting a taste of the college life. At only 15, she will enter college in a few years, and the experience opened her eyes to what she’d be seeing in a few short years.
We were thrilled to host Josiah, Jordan, and Eliana this summer, and we look forward to seeing how their futures unfold!
