We’re committed to promoting and celebrating diversity in all our programs. Our education team creates resources to do this for participants, alumni, teachers, and staff. Explore information, videos, and other media we use to teach and learn about diversity, social justice, and inclusivity.

Virtual Candlelight Vigil
On June 9, 2020, we hosted a virtual candlelight vigil in memory of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and hundreds of other Black lives lost to social injustice. We invite you to create your own virtual vigil to commemorate those who have lost their lives too early. We suggest including music that speaks to your group, poetry that moves you, showing the names of those who have fallen while you have your candle raised. Some examples of items to include are Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come", and you can end your vigil on a positive note with a song like Kirk Franklin's "I Smile." A poem that we suggest is Paul Lawrence Dunbar's "We Wear the Mask." There are many ways to put together a vigil and to do so safely at home. For smaller groups you can use Google hangouts or an app like Houseparty. For larger groups a platform like Zoom may be needed.
Illuminating Pride
During Pride Month in June, we also shared history of the Pride movement and ways that allies can help with this movement. We're providing our video presentation, as well as slides that can be used to teach about what Pride means, why the movement began, and the best ways to help.
