It’s Epic: It’s College Signing Day
“Deciding where you’re going to college is exciting. It’s a major step toward a person’s future, and it should feel like an epic occasion.”
Are you committed to your future? Are you ready to reach higher, by continuing your education through a 4-year college, community college, trade school, or certification program? This is your week, as the nation celebrates College Signing Day.
Here at Envision, we salute future-minded students across America, by supporting Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher initiative and National College Signing Day. The official sponsors of this event, Reach Higher and Better Make Room will be celebrating on May 5, and they encourage you to celebrate with them, any time this week.
President Obama’s “North Star” Goal
In 2015, Michelle Obama launched her Reach Higher initiative, in support of former President Obama’s “North Star” goal for America to once again reach #1, with the highest proportion of college graduates in the world, by 2020. The Reach Higher organization provides tools and encouragement for educators, counselors, and other adults to help young people focus on their futures, and consider college as an option.
The World Better Make Room for You!
Better Make Room is the student-facing campaign supporting Reach Higher. This website is dedicated to you, providing a platform on which you and your peers can declare your commitment to your future and share your stories. The Better Make Room mission is to help you get a better education and imagine a better future, as you plan “all the great things you’ll do next, staking a claim, forging a path and lighting the way for others just like you.” They provide a space for you to share your inspiration with your peers and remind you that “You’re about to arrive – and the world better make room.”

Better Make Room gives you four simple reasons to commit to college:

How to Celebrate
You can get involved in the Reach Higher effort by sharing your story and college decision through social media. Tweet, post, and instagram photos and videos of your Decision Day events using the hashtags #ReachHigher and #CollegeBound.
How to Get Where You’re Going
The Better Make Room website also has a feature called Up Next, to help you accomplish your goals for college. They’ll send you simple text reminders to get important things done, like applying for school or financial aid. They also invite you to visit a college campus and post a selfie with #bettermakeroom.
