Operation Fly, founded in 2007, urges young people to take steps within their communities to provide opportunities for people – including other students – who are in need.
Operation Fly was founded in 2007 by students who believe that altruism and a sense of sympathy are necessary traits for young leaders to have. They aim to help students realize that there is nothing to wait for – they can create change now.
Members of Operation Fly stand up as leaders to combat homelessness, poverty and financial burdens of aspiring students. They serve disadvantaged inner-city populations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area by coordinating events for the homeless and providing programs for underprivileged students in their schools.
They aim to empower their fellow students and their entire community to make a difference in the lives of others.
Voices of Change
Operation Fly is an example of how real students can bring positive change to their communities.
Throughout your time at JrNYLC, you will take part in the Voices of Change project. Together with your peers, you will identify a need in your community, and design your own action-oriented organization to address this need.
When you return home, you will be equipped and ready to create change in your own community.
