PROFILE

Stephanie Hoaglund

Education Advocate

Stephanie has been involved with social media from the very beginning, having begun her career at the company that first figured out how to connect the world, America Online (AOL). During her 12 year tenure, she led the development of some of AOL’s largest community-focused initiatives.

After leaving AOL, Stephanie joined K12 Inc., the country’s largest online education company, where she headed up K12’s social media community and engagement efforts, reaching more than 200M full and part time students worldwide. During her time at K12, Inc., Stephanie became recognized as a corporate thought-leader and community voice for social media in education and technology.

Stephanie, a popular blogger in her own right (she started blogging after her husband’s cancer diagnosis), has seen education from the more traditional “brick and mortar” perspective and from some of the newer, more progressive approaches. She is passionate about the use of social media in education and is always looking for ways to improve how kids learn through technology.

Her writing has appeared in various digital publications and she was recognized by Microsoft as a "global hero of education".

Stephanie holds a BA from the University of Arizona and is the proud parent of two, Hannah, 11 and Nate, 9.
