JrNYLC Alumni has given me the inspiration and motivation to pursue leadership and service opportunities that seemed unreachable; and have taught me skills that I use every day, and now, teach to others.
My most memorable moment was the joy of working with my group working on the simulation. We were so happy that we had finally been able to complete on our own!
The program has encouraged me to become involved in as many activities as possible. I learned that the career field is a diverse one and that you need to know how to interact with as many people as possible in a professional and personal way.
You will walk away having learned something new. That is an absolute guarantee. I still reference back to my notebooks from my programs if I am looking for an answer to something! You also are going to have a great group of people who support you. I still talk with my Career Focus Group this long after my program has ended!
As a young leader, I am inspired when I see a happy reaction on the face of a student whom I have helped. Knowing that I am making a difference is a huge way that I stay inspired throughout my leadership positions.
I felt that the program taught us more hands-on than a traditional classroom. They also were able to show us in person some of the applications of what we were learning with off-site excursions.
My program experience has helped me learn that you can take one career path, but choose from many different jobs. I felt that is was important to learn about all of the options that you have other than just being the star performer or employee. There are many different ways to be involved in a field and involvement is what helps you learn.
My program experience has given me more skills necessary to become a leader in a classroom, career, or social setting; friendships and connections that will last a lifetime; and inspiration to become more involved in my community.
I believe that there is an Envision program for everyone. There are leadership and career-oriented programs for all ages. Research the programs, and take my word that Envision programs are great. If you find a program that suits you, you'll have fun, see a lot, and learn a lot.
