NYLF Law & CSI Curriculum

NYLF Law & CSI offers them exposure to processes like evidence analysis as well as courtroom or forensic procedures, so they have the perspective they’ll need for choosing college courses and deciding whether a future career in law or crime scene investigation is right for them.
From Crime Scene to Trial Simulation
Your NYLF Law & CSI nominees will get hands-on during this cumulative mock trial activity that provides an inside look at investigative and trial court procedures. They’ll assume various roles in a homicide case, including witnesses, investigators, and attorneys, and use their legal and investigative skills to examine each component of the case and formulate viable theories and scenarios.
Investigative Simulation (for students of CSI)
During this simulation, students will learn about important disciplines in the investigation process, such as forensic artistry, police interviews, and criminal profiling. They’ll learn about the reliability of eyewitnesses and how to reconstruct a crime scene's sequence of events with some of the same technology utilized by police departments and law enforcement teams.
Supreme Court Simulation (for students of law)
In this simulation, attendees will re-create an actual United States Supreme Court Case to learn about the importance of case law precedent and how to use it to form and support a legal argument. They’ll develop an understanding of the procedures of the United States Supreme Court and discover the differences between an appellate argument and a factual argument.
